10 SECOND CLUB: WEEKLY CHARACTER CLAY CHARACTER ANIMATION
Weekly 10 second character animation assignments with press-mold characters using various props and rigs. Audio is recommended as a little bit goes a long way towards selling your animation.
10 SEC CLUB #1: INTRODUCING YOUR CHARACTER
Your first 10 Second Club assignment will be to introduce your character as they emerge from an amorphous lump of clay. To accomplish this you will need to animate your character in REVERSE. My advice is to keep things simple. Play act your performance in reverse, thinking of a simple bit your character can do for the camera before getting sucked into an amorphous blob.
Adding Audio and Post Editing:
Adding audio is optional but recommended as a well-placed sound FX can add wieght and impact to your animated performance. Keep in mind that a little bit goes a long way.
Pro Tips:
- 10 Seconds is a suggested approximate length to help you budget your time and resources.
- Use the reverse playback button in Dragonframe to view your work backwards as you animate.
- Reverse movie clips in the Adobe Premiere timeline by right mousing on clip and selecting the Speed/Duration option.
UPCOMING 10 SEC ASSIGNMENTS:
New themes, props, and techniques will be assigned on a weekly basis weekly. While the naming conventions will change the specs will not. Stay tuned for weekly assignments and have fun with them. Nothing like having your own little clay character to push around weekly. :-)
